Template:InfoboxCar2The BMW M3 Sport Evolution (E30) was a special edition model of the base M3 E30. 600 exemplars of the car exist, which were built during January until March in 1990.
It was equipped with a larger version of the 2.3 litre S14 Inline-4 found in the standard M3 coupe and cabriolet.
The M3 E30 was a homologation model designed for Group N and Group A. It initially participated in the 1987 World Touring Car Championship.
However, during the first race of the championship, which was held in Monza, every racing team with the BMW M3 was disqualified, because the cars failed to meet the regulations.
Nevertheless, the BMW M3 became the World Touring Car Champion of 1987, beating the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. At the same year, the BMW M3 also won the 1987 Tour de Corse - Rallye de France championship.
More victories took place in various championships including the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) and the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.
Need for Speed: World
Template:NFSWlink The BMW M3 Sport Evolution became on November 8th, 2011 to Need for Speed: World players as a Tier 2 car. Since August 22nd, 2012, it has been featured as a Class B vehicle.
It comes with Amerikon Speedsystems street tuned parts installed as standard. The Sport Evolution has an overall rating of 565 and is purchasable for 
3,000.
The M3 Sport Evolution has a low weight, which allows it to gain several performance advantages. Braking is redundant in most corners, as the M3's steering has a good precision. Acceleration is slightly above average for Class B. Top speed is 188 mph (302 km/h).
It is one of the best Class B cars for racing due to its well-rounded performance. Different to the Lotus Elise, it lacks a very direct steering although this is compensated by an extremely powerful nitrous boost. Players can successfully compete with mid-ranged Class A cars, once they fit the car with Pro or Ultra series parts.
Special Trims
An Art Director variant of the M3 Sport Evolution was released on September 18th, 2012. It is known as the "Brezeln" variant, which has a red paint job that is reminiscent of the Oktoberfest. Its name is a reference to a popular German type of bread called Pretzel.
The Brezeln is upgraded with Gromlen race tuned parts and positioned in Class A. It has an overall rating of 610 and costs 3,300.
Shift 2: Unleashed
In Shift 2: Unleashed, the BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution appears as a Retro Road classed vehicle with a price tag of $24,700. It has a performance index rating of D 400, handling rating of 2.74 and a 60-0mph braking time of 3.22 seconds.
The M3 Sport Evolution has an incredible handling and a fairly high top speed. It lacks power compared to cars with more displacement but is still capable of keeping up with them.
The car also appears in an European Retro Hot Lap event taking place in the short version of the Hockenheimring.
Need for Speed: The Run
The M3 Sport Evolution in Need for Speed: The Run appears as a Tier 1 vehicle. It also appears as the Tier 4 "NFS Edition" and Tier 5 "Victory Signature Edition". Each of these vehicles are unlocked in different ways;
- Tier 1 (Stock) - Beat ten objectives in the Underground playlist.
- Tier 4 (NFS Edition) - Beat five group objectives.
- Tier 5 (Victory) - Signature Edition Booster Pack DLC required.
The stock variant cannot be used in The Run mode. Its handling is rated as Very Difficult, although the "NFS Edition" variant has a Normal rating and the "Victory Signature Edition" has a Challenging rating.
The Tier 1 variant is one of the fastest cars the players can choose. It is a well competitor in the fields of acceleration and top speed. The M3 is more controllable than its American rivals but less effective in corners than the Audi Quattro 20 V and other cars.
The "NFS Edition" shares the same top speed with the BMW M3 GTS and overall a balanced and competitive Tier 4 car. It has 454 bhp at 7,100 rpm and a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds. Top speed is 191 mph (307 km/h).
The "Victory Signature Edition has a livery similar to that of the BMW M3 E30 DTM car. Its powertrain delivers 636 bhp at 7,000 rpm and uses 216 mph (348 km/h). The car does 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The Victory variant has sufficient performance statistics and is able to beat most Tier 5 cars. However, it feels lacking when put against cars with Supercar classification.
