Carmen Mendez is one of the player's allies in Need for Speed: Undercover. It is implied that she is the player's love interest.
The player first meets Carmen in the job Palm Harbor Rally where she is seen talking to Zack Maio. Carmen later challenges the player to a Highway Battle in the job The Game although the player's federal handler - Chase Linh tells them that Carmen doesn't have a criminal record but she might be connected to the international smuggling ring they're after.
Carmen is next seen in a cutscene-mission See Carmen where she reveals to the player that she isn't a member of Hector Maio's crew.
Carmen appears again in several cutscenes after the player arrests Hector and Zack. She informs the player that they are the main suspect on the brothers' disappearance since they had recently left Palm Harbor.
Carmen challenges the player to a Rematch but she is attacked by Chau Wu's henchmen and the player must protect her. Carmen reveals that she's been scared ever since Hector and his crew had mysteriously disappeared.
Carmen calls the player after they complete the job - Hot Item. She tells them that Zack had been caught up in a job he didn't sanction.
Carmen asks the player once again to meet her in the job - Meet Carmen. She reveals that Hector and Zack stole a BMW M6 from Chau Wu before being arrested. Carmen also asks the player to take the M6 from her as she is afraid Chau Wu will come after her.
Carmen tells Jack M. Keller everything regarding Chau Wu in exchange for amnesty from any possible criminal activities. She asks the player to take her to the University as she is beginning a degree in medicine.
Carmen drives a grey 1967 Shelby GT500 that cannot be obtained by the player.
