The Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is a performance model of the facelifted fourth generation Chevrolet Camaro.

It is powered by a LS1 V8, which was also used by the Chevrolet Corvette C5 and the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.

In comparison to the older model, the Z28 also featured revised brakes, suspension, and minor exterior changes.

Need for Speed: High Stakes

The Chevrolet Camaro Z28 appears in Need for Speed: High Stakes as a class A vehicle in the PC release and as a class C vehicle in the PlayStation release.

The Camaro can be selected with a close-ratio 6-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The manual transmission provides quicker acceleration, with the automatic version offering a higher top speed.

The Camaro has good acceleration, top speed whilst being available with a low price tag. The Firebird has identical performance, although the Camaro has slightly better brakes. Also, compared to the XKR and Corvette, its handling seems to be somewhat sluggish.

The PlayStation release of High Stakes features the Z28 coupe whereas the convertible, Police, and Bonus variants are present in the PC release. The bonus car is modelled after the 1993 Indy 500 Pace Car.

The Police variant of the Z28, in the PC release, is unlocked upon earning Top Cop and Most Wanted in Getaway Hot Pursuit.

The Bonus variant is unlocked after placing 1st in the Chevrolet Pro Cup.
