The Dodge Challenger SRT8 is a high performance variant of the Dodge Challenger produced between 2008 and 2012.

The Challenger was first introduced as the limited production 2008 SRT8 model of which 6400 units were sold. In the following year, the SRT8 entered full-scale production and was complemented by additional models.[1]

Dodge equipped the SRT8 model with a 6.1 litre Hemi V8 engine that could be combined with a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission as standard.

Also equipped as standard to the SRT8 are Brembo brakes, a sport suspension, bi-xenon headlights, heated leather sport seats, a Sirius satellite radio, and 20-inch forged aluminium wheels.

The car was replaced in 2012 by the Challenger SRT8 392 which features various upgrades including a larger displacement engine.

Need for Speed: Nitro

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 is featured in Need for Speed: Nitro as a class A muscle car.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010)

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 appears in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010) as an Performance Series racer vehicle, and as an SCPD Highway Patrol unit.

The racer vehicle is unlocked upon the player earning a total of 195,000 racer bounty. The SCPD unit is unlocked upon the player earning a total of 157,500 cop bounty. Purchasing the Limited Edition release will unlock the SCPD unit at the beginning of the player's career.

It is featured as a class D racer vehicle, as well as an SCPD unit, in the Nintendo Wii and iOS releases.

It is not as effective in race events as the 2010 Ford Shelby GT500, but is able to keep up with the Chevrolet Camaro SS and other Performance Series cars. The SRT8 can withstand most impacts due to its heavy mass, performing well in pursuits.

Need for Speed: The Run

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 is featured in Need for Speed: The Run as a tier 2 vehicle in its stock configuration, as a tier 4 Need for Speed Edition vehicle, as a tier 4 "K&N Edition" vehicle, and as a tier 5 "Sinister Signature Edition" vehicle.

  • Tier 2 - Available from the beginning.
  • Tier 4 "Need for Speed Edition" - Earn a Bronze Medal in all Plains Interstate Challenges.
  • Tier 4 "K&N Edition" - Earn a Gold Medal in all K&N Challenges.
  • Tier 5 "Sinister" Signature Edition - Beat 10 multiplayer objectives in the Car Battles Weekly Playlist.

The K&N Challenge Series is unlocked upon the player completing Stage 3 of The Run.

The tier 2 variant has a "Very Difficult" handling rating, but possesses strong acceleration and a high top speed.

The Need for Speed Edition and K&N Edition are average tier 4 cars with a "Very Difficult" handling rating. Both cars feel heavy in corners and are prone to oversteer in difficult corners such as hairpin turns.
