It cannot be driven by the player in all of its game appearances with the exception of Need for Speed: Carbon, which features an unlockable "Palmont DT1" entitled variant.
Need for Speed: Carbon
The Palmont DT1 is a playable variant of the Dump Truck that appears only in Need for Speed Carbon as a Tier 0 Muscle class vehicle. It can be driven in the Silver Tier Pursuit Evasion Challenge Series event, and is unlockable for Quick Race mode use after completing its reward card.
It was made available as a downloadable vehicle for the Xbox 360 release on January 12th, 2007.
The DT1 has quick acceleration, which helps it gain momentum in its challenge event, although the large size of the DT1 makes it sturdy, but also gives it slow steering movement and a tendency to fishtail under hard cornering.
- The Palmont FD1 is another playable traffic vehicle featured in Need for Speed: Carbon.
- In the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 releases of Need for Speed: Undercover, it is based on an unused dump truck model found in the game files of Burnout Paradise, which itself is based on the Ford F-700.
- An incomplete Dump Truck appears along the Gridlock drag event in Need for Speed: World.
- The Dump Truck can be found in the game files of the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii releases of Need for Speed: Undercover, but it is not used as a traffic vehicle, however, a drivable rendition can be found in the game files.
