The Career in Need for Speed: ProStreet has the player taking on the role of Ryan Cooper, a newcomer to organised street racing, and is split across four tiers that players progress through by participating in race day events.

Each race day event has a number of set scores; win (NFSPSTickIcon), dominate (NFSPSCrownIcon), and record (NFSPSStarIcon).

  • Beating a win score for a race day offers a single choice from five reward markers.
  • Beating a dominate score for a race day offers a second choice from five reward markers.
  • Beating a dominate score for a challenge race day offers a choice of pinkslips for any vehicle offered at that event.
  • Beating a record score will make the player the highest scoring participant of a race day event.

Points towards a race day score are earned by participating in events, and the amount rewarded is dependant on their performance in each event. The total score earned by the player for a race day is their highest score for each event added together.

Upon meeting a pre-requisite for the next tier, they must dominate a Showdown race day in order to progress to their next tier of competition.

Progressing through all three Showdown race days will allow the player to challenge Ryo Watanabe's position as the Showdown King. The other four kings; Drag, Drift, Grip, and Speed, require the player to beat a certain number of records at race days before they are invited to participate at specific race organiser events.

Defeating all five kings will crown Ryan Cooper as the Street King; the master of all racing disciplines.
