The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a grand tourer that entered production starting from 2010. It is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and was directly inspired by the classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL.
The SLS has an aluminium structure, gullwing doors and is powered by a 6.2L V8. The chassis and body are the first aluminium construction ever made by Mercedes-Benz although most of the engineering was done by AMG. The aluminium frame will later be used in a smaller, cheaper variant of the SLS.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010)Edit
The SLS AMG is featured in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010) as a Super class Racer vehicle and as a Rapid Deployment SCPD unit. It is unlocked for Racers upon the player earning 495,500 bounty in the Racer career and is unlocked for the SCPD upon the player earning 315,500 bounty in the cop career.
The car can reach a higher top speed than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS although it has generally worse handling due to its increased weight.
The SLS AMG fares well in Pursuits compared to other cars in its category due to its durability.
Shift 2: UnleashedEdit
The SLS AMG appears in Shift 2: Unleashed as a Modern Road class vehicle with a $183,000 price tag. It has a B 1070 performance rating and a 3.66 handling rating.
The Speedhunters Pack DLC also featured a "Speedhunters" variant of the car, which has a A 1500 performance rating and 4.86 handling rating.
Need for Speed: The RunEdit
It has above average acceleration and top speed at the cost of handling which is rated "Challenging."
The SLS AMG is also featured in higher car tiers with improved performance.
The Old Spice Signature Edition is an Old Spice themed variant of the SLS AMG that was only featured in the Old Spice 'Smell Faster' Pack. It appears as a Tier 4 car but has no improved performance.
Similar to the stock model, this variant is featured with good acceleration and a "Challenging" handling rating. Its best trait is top speed which is 223 mph (359 km/h).
There are also two additional Tier 5 cars with identical performance to Garret's car - the Bling Signature Edition and Need for Speed Edition.
The SLS AMG Bling Signature Edition is unlocked upon the player reaching Driver Level 27 and Need for Speed Edition is unlocked upon the player beating beating 30 Autolog Recommendations.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012)Edit
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was revealed to be featured a week before Gamescom 2012.
It is featured with powerful acceleration that is up on par with the fastest Sports class cars such as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante alongside a high top speed comparable to the Bentley Continental Supersports ISR Convertible. The handling of the SLS is prone to oversteer but easy to control, making it suitable for long drifts.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) (Mobile)Edit
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG appears in the mobile release of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) in the GT category. It boasts balanced stats with slightly higher acceleration and speed in its category and costs $350,000.
