The Mercedes-Benz SL 600 (R129) is the top model of the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL series, and was produced from 1989 to 2002.

The R129 line of SL models had several design changes over its thirteen year production with small changes such as adopting an electric odometer and a Bose stereo as standard in 1995.

Major changes occurred in 1997 with sport packages, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, side airbags, body colour bumpers, Xenon HID headlamps, and redesigned convertible roof.

AMG variations were also made available as limited special edition models with several iterations of the standard redesigns.

Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit

The SL 600 appears in the PC release of Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit as a class C var

It is the best overall performing class C car as the Jaguar XK8 has inferior acceleration by comparison and the Aston Martin DB7 has less precise handling.

It is not available for police chases like the racing variant of the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR.
