Special Event is a game mode in the PlayStation release of Need for Speed: High Stakes.
Special events are similar to the tournament, in which the player's objective is to earn the most points, but special events are more diverse with races through open traffic and the inclusion of knockout races.
There are eight special events featured and most of them can be unlocked by placing first in a specific tournament event. An entry fee must be paid for entry and a specific car for the event is required.
Winning all special events will reward the player with the Titan.
