The professional Long Gears modification improves a vehicle's top speed without reducing its stock acceleration.

Single Player

The standard Long Gears modification is unlocked in single player through the completion of a specific event that differs per vehicle.

The professional modification is unlocked upon the player drive a total of 10,000 yards (9,144 metres) in oncoming with Long Gears equipped.

The standard and professional variations of the Long Gears mod has to be unlocked individually for each vehicle in single player.

Multiplayer

The standard Long Gears modification is unlocked in multiplayer for a vehicle upon the player reaching a specific milestone for that vehicle.

Sports Class	Drift 5,000 yards (4,572 metres) with Track Tyres equipped to the vehicle
SUV Class	Drift 5,000 yards (4,572 metres) with Track Tyres equipped to the vehicle

The professional modification is unlocked upon the player driving past 40 Speed Cameras above 100 mph (160 km/h) with the standard Long Gears mod equipped to any vehicle during SpeedLists.

The standard Long Gears mod has to be has to be unlocked individually for each vehicle in multiplayer. The professional modification is unlocked for any vehicle that the player has met the requirements of the standard modification for.
