< Need for Speed: The Run
Experience points (XP) are used in Need for Speed: The Run to measure the player's overall progress in the game. They may be earned by completing race events or by obtaining bonuses. By accumulating a certain amount of XP, players can rise up their Driver Level and unlock new cars. The maximum level a player can reach is level 30. Players who have downloaded the Italian Pack downloadable content can reach level 40.

| Top Speed | 10 | Reach a vehicle's top speed. |
| Dirty Pass | 25 | Overtake an opponent after a collision with that opponent. |
| Clean Pass | 50 | Overtake an opponent without colliding with them. |
| Rapid Pass | 100 | Overtake more than one opponent at the same time. Greater XP is awarded depending on the number of passed opponents. |
| Drifting Bonus | 5 - 85 | Perform a drift. Greater XP is rewarded depending on the length of the drift. |
| Roadblock Dodge | 50 | Avoid a collision with a roadblock. |
| Cop Takedown | 100 | Immobilize a police car. |
| Roadblock Ram | 25 | Survive an impact with a police roadblock. |
| Jump Bonus | 100 | Land a jump. |
| Race Event Bonuses | ||
| Opponent Defeated | 200 | Hold the lead against an opponent once the timer reaches zero in a Battle Race Event. |
| Overtook Rival | 500 | Pass a rival in a Rival Race. |
| Incredible | 250 | Pass a checkpoint in a Make Up Time Event with a second or less left. |
| Close Call | 150 | Pass a checkpoint in a Make Up Time Event with 5 seconds or less left. |
| Good Time | 175 | Pass a checkpoint in a Make Up Time Event with 10 seconds or less left. |
| Great Time | 200 | Pass a checkpoint in a Make Up Time Event in under 15 seconds or less left. |
| Perfect Time | 225 | Pass a checkpoint in a Make Up Time Event with over 15 seconds left. |

| Escaped | 500 | Escape from the cops. |
| Survived | 250 / 500 | Finish a dangerous section of an event without being wrecked. |
| Perfect Run | 500 | Complete an event without having to use a reset. |
| Resets Remaining | 0 - 250 | XP awarded depending on the amount of resets left at the end of an event. |
| Bonus Wheel | Various | XP awarded depending on the criteria given by the Bonus Wheel during a multiplayer Run playlist. |
