Nissan Presents: Over Drivin' Skyline Memorial is a localised retail release of Road & Track Presents: The Need for Speed made available in Japan on October 2, 1997.[1]
It was made available for PlayStation as a boxed retail game, and is a re-release of a 1996 localisation aimed for the Japanese market - Road & Track Presents: Over Drivin' DX, but features region orientated content following the 1996 Sega Saturn release - Nissan Presents: Over Drivin' GT-R.
The original car list is substituted with various generations of Nissan Skyline models, and a Japanese language option has been added.
Gameplay[]
The game retains all the courses and game modes of the PlayStation and Sega Saturn releases of The Need for Speed, although without any traffic or police involved in the Head to Head mode.
It also follows a more arcade approach compared to all previous releases of The Need for Speed, including the removal of having to shift out of neutral and into first gear at the start of every race.
Cars[]
Cars are divided into three classes, and a bonus vehicle is unlocked upon completing the Tournament Mode. Unlike its Sega Saturn counterpart and the original game, the Showcase Mode consists of a single narrated video presentation for each car.
