Template:InfoboxNFSCarThe State Cruiser is a standard issue patrol car utilised by the Rockport Police Department and Palmont Police Department. The police unit is based on the Pontiac GTO (2005).
There are two models of the State Cruiser; the standard issue model fitted with a full police package and the unmarked model.
The State Cruiser is the main patrol unit for all police departments and appears at Heat Level 3 of a police pursuit. The unit is light but resilient resulting in an persistent means of pursuit against high durability vehicles. The power mixed with torque produced by the engine can become too excessive at low speeds and result in very little grip.
Officers driving State Cruiser units are trained in the following advanced driving techniques: Box, Herd, PIT and Roadblock and Rolling Roadblocks. An excessively damaged or disabled unit adds a $2,500 Bounty to the rap sheet of the suspect.
The Police State Muscle takes on the role of the State Cruiser in Need for Speed: World as well as in the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases of Need for Speed: Undercover.
The Ford Mustang GT (2005) replaces the Pontiac GTO in the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and Wii releases of Need for Speed: Undercover. The Dodge Charger SRT-8 (2005) takes on the role in Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012).
