The Shelby Cobra "Daytona" Coupé is a race car built from 1964 to 1965, that was based on the AC Cobra. Within its racing career, the Daytona Coupé earned many victories including the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans and 24 Hours of Daytona. Only six units of the car were produced, due to the fact, that the Ford GT40 project was launched.
Need for Speed: WorldEdit
On October 12th, 2011, the Daytona Coupé was added to Need for Speed: World as a Tier 2 car. Since August 22nd, 2012, it has been featured as a Class B vehicle. On October 2nd, 2012, it was made available as a Class C car for in-game cash.
It is upgraded with Amerikon Speedsystems street tuned parts as standard and has an overall rating of 556. Players can purchase the Daytona Coupé for 3,100. The Class C version is not upgraded, has an overall rating of 483 and costs 950,000.
The Daytona Coupé is notable for its handling. It is capable of high-speed cornering and one of the best cars in this field. Acceleration is above Class C standard and comparable with that of the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 V-Spec. The Daytona Coupe also has a more effective nitrous output than the latter. Top speed is 190 mph (306 kmh) and 194 mph (313 kmh) with nitrous applied.
Shift 2: UnleashedEdit
The Daytona Coupé is only featured in the Legends Pack downloadable content for Shift 2: Unleashed as a 60s Legends GT classed car. It is featured with a 620 overall rating and 3.31 handling rating.
Need for Speed: The RunEdit
The Daytona Coupé appears in Need for Speed: The Run as a Tier 4 car, as the Tier 4 "NFS Edition" and as the Tier 5 "Carl Signature Edition".
The standard variant can be unlocked upon beating ten Autolog recommendations. The "NFS Edition" requires the player to beat twenty objectives in the Muscle Car Playlist. The Tier 5 variant is unlocked by receiving a bronze medal in every East Coast Express challenge.
The handling of both Tier 4 cars is rated as Challenging, while the handling of the Tier 5 variant is rated as Normal.
The standard variant is one of the quickest Tier 3 cars, as it is capable of a top speed of 180 mph (290 kmh). It also has the best acceleration time, although at the cost of handling.
The "NFS Edition" is also notable for its top speed, but performs averagely in terms of acceleration.
The top speed of the "Carl Signature Edition" may not be on a par with the fastest Tier 5 cars. This trait is compensated by its decent handling and quick acceleration.
- The Daytona Coupe is featured with a five-speed gearbox in Need for Speed: World and lacks its side exhausts.
