The Underground Racing League, or more commonly known as URL, is a fictional organization introduced in Need for Speed: Underground 2. They select the best racers and invite them to certain events to race. URL icons are gold.
To join or compete in a URL race, the player must be signed with a sponsor; therefore the player cannot compete in a URL when just starting the game. URLs are placed on actual race tracks, unlike how there are races on city streets with regular races. When racing a URL, the player may find their competition harder than normal, hence that URL competitors are only selected and cannot join without an invitation. Unlike in regular city street races, the opponents will have realistic names. For example, if the player is playing a race in Jackson Heights, they might see an opponent named "Nesto," whereas if they are racing in a URL they would see the name "Brian" or "Lucy."
Race tracks can differ in region. At first, URLs take place on a track near the airport, but not quite next to it. But as the player progresses into the career, URLs may take place directly in the airport.
Races are from 4 to 6 laps.
