The 7th generation Golf was first announced by Volkswagen in Berlin on September 4, 2012 before being publicly launched at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on September 29, 2012. It entered dealerships in Europe on November 10, 2012.
The GTI specification is fitted with a 2.0-litre straight-4 engine equipped with a turbocharger.
