The Volvo 242 DL (De Luxe) is a two-door base model based on Volvo's 240, a long-running series of executive cars that was produced from 1974 to 1993.

The DL is fitted with a cloth or vinyl interior, and alloy wheels with chrome hubcaps. It was introduced under Volvo's new company aims of driver safety, comfort, economy, and value for money.
